Our History

Its origins began in 1963 when Ken Moratti, who was farming, had a chance to use a hedge trimmer and got so good at it that the neighbours began asking him to trim their hedges. So, equipped with Massey Ferguson 135 and 165 tractors, a drill, and a hedge cutter he started his business.

A job re-grassing the Kapuni to Pio Pio gas line set the business up and rapid growth ensued over the following years. Now Ken G Moratti Ltd boasts a large, up-to-date fleet of machinery with the latest technology and is one of the largest Agricultural Contracting businesses in Taranaki. They offer a comprehensive range of services including hay and silage baling, pit and fine chop silage, maize silage, fodder beet, cultivation, cropping, grassing, hedge cutting, effluent pond cleaning and muck spreading, fertiliser spraying, metal carting and trenching.

Billy Moratti came to help out his father in the agricultural contracting business in 1985 and has been there ever since. Family and community are vitally important to the Moratti team, with many family members who have worked for the company, and is evident in the company’s ongoing support of many local charities, schools, sports groups, and affiliations. Billy now acts as a mentor to Aaron and the team, and enjoys a little time in the seat seeing clients on farm. Team Moratti looks forward to growing the Taranaki farming community, while still providing the excellent service that people have known and come to rely on from Moratti Agri.
